A Greeley man who robbed a bank after asking how to get charged with a felony crime while being arrested earlier that same day will spend up to six years in jail. Itzea Mares, 35, was sentenced to six years in the Colorado Department of Corrections by Weld County District Court Judge Audrey Galloway during a Sept. 4 sentencing hearing, according to Colorado court records. The Greeley Tribune reports he pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery with a real or simulated weapon, while charges of felony theft between $2,000 and $5,000 were dismissed as part of the Sept. 4 plea agreement.
