Man Charged In Fatal Fort Collins Crash Appears In Court

An 88-year-old Wyoming man accused of a fatal downtown Fort Collins crash made his first court appearance in Larimer County. Van Lemaster faces charges including vehicular homicide and vehicular assault after driving his pickup truck onto a crowded sidewalk during August’s Tour de Fat festival, killing 33-year-old Joshua Douglass and injuring five others. During the brief hearing, Lemaster’s attorney requested a listening headset for his client as a packed courtroom of onlookers watched. Police say impairment was ruled out as a factor in the tragic incident.
