Cameron Peak Fire Grows Over the Weekend

The Cameron Peak Fire about fifteen miles southwest of Red Feather Lakes and 40 miles northwest of Fort Collins, grew to 12,124 acres Sunday afternoon with zero containment and no structures damaged. CO 14 is closed from Rustin to Gould along with Laramie River Road north of Colorado 14. Mandatory and voluntary evacuations are in effect around the fire area. The cause of the fire, which started on the afternoon on August 13th, is unknown and is under investigation.

The Chair of the Larimer County Board of Commissioners has made a formal disaster declaration in anticipation of the impacts of the fire. The full board will consider the declaration on Tuesday.
