Unusually low water levels at Loveland’s Boyd Lake State Park have claimed yet another casualty. Last week, park officials announced that there will be no designated swimming area at the park’s popular swim beach this summer, meaning visitors who enter the water will be doing so without the usual monitored boundaries and safety markers. The Loveland Reporter Herald reports the swim beach changes follow the closure of the lake’s main courtesy dock, the marina and boat ramp at Heron Cove, all due to the low water levels. According to the Greeley Loveland Irrigation Company, which owns the water, Boyd Lake was approximately 37% full as of April.
