A house fire near downtown Greeley was quickly extinguished on Wednesday afternoon, after cigarettes thrown away in a soda can caused a fire to ignite in the home. According to the Greeley Tribune, about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Greeley Fire Department responded to reports of flames visible from a home and a nearby power line in the 1000 block of 4th Avenue, according to a Greeley Fire Department Facebook post. The home was being evacuated when firefighters got the call, and no one was seriously injured in the fire.

By the time firefighters cleared the building of people, the fire spread to the attic, according to the post. Crews cut into the roof of the home to allow heat and smoke to escape, and power was cut to the home.
