A Denver man is facing 22 felony charges in a Weld County car theft opeation. The Weld County Sheriff’s Office arrested Kevin Abelbert Chavez, 29, who authorities say is the leader of a local chop shop responsible for stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars in stolen vehicles. He is being held in the Weld County Jail without bond pending his first court appearance. The investigation is ongoing and more charges could be forthcoming, according to a news release.
