Construction Company To Pay $12K For Prairie Dog Habitat Damage

After a prairie dog habitat in Fort Collins was disturbed by a private company working on a road construction project, the firm  involved will pay just under $12,000 for failing to  obtain the proper permit before  doing the work.  The Coloradoan reports  Zak Dirt, based in Longmont,  will fork over the money for the project on private land on the northwest corner of College Avenue and Trilby Road. The contractor,  working on the city’s College Avenue and Trilby Road intersection project, had entered into a private arrangement with the site’s landowner as an off-site staging area for sod, soil and other materials.
