Rabid Bat Found In Fort Collins Prompt Rabies Recommendations

A bat  that later tested positive for rabies was found on a porch in Fort Collins, prompting advice from Larimer County health officials on how to handle a situation like that.   The Coloradoan reports  NOCO Humane Animal Protection and Control captured the sick bat Thursday, April 25, near the intersection of Drake Road and Timberline Road.   If you encounter a bat at home, the county recommends safely confining the bat to a single room by closing all doors and windows, don’t attempt to handle the bat, especially with bare hands, and call NOCO Humane Animal Protection & Control at 970-226-3647.
