180 Acres Of Land Torched By Fire Outside Galeton

Roughly 180 acres of land were overrun by a fire northeast of Galeton late Saturday night.  According to the Loveland Reporter Herald, it started around 11pm and burned for close to two hours.  No people or animals were hurt, said fire officials, and no structures were severely damaged. Four homes were in the path of the blaze, but none suffered any damage.  High winds knocked down a power line to a transformer, but investigators could not confirm whether that started the fire or not. The fire spread past Weld County Roads 78 and 65, jumping Weld 65 for about 1,000 feet before crews were able to contain it.
