Suspect in Loveland Subway robbery deemed incompetent to stand trial

The man accused of robbing a Loveland Subway will not spend time in jail. In a hearing in Larimer County District Court Thursday, a judge ruled that Gavin Gamez, 20, will be approved for the Larimer County’s wellness court program, an alternative to incarceration for offenders with serious mental health conditions. Gamez was arrested after he held up the Subway on E. 29th St., using a squirt gun. The officer who shot Gamez was cleared of any wrongdoing, according to reporterherald.com. A disposition hearing has been scheduled for Jan. 30.
