Montana used a 17-3 run in the first half and UNC managed only 2 treys on 13 attempts Saturday as the Grizzlies dealt the Bears an 88-64 loss.
Northern Colorado’s first Big Sky loss of the season came in front of a home crowd that was quieted early by Montana’s run and an inability by UNC’s offense to get going. The Bears managed only 35% shooting in the first half.
Meanwhile, the Grizzlies ended their recent shooting slump by knocking their first eight three pointers and hitting 57% from the field for the day.
The victors now get a week off before they visit Idaho, while UNC has to travel Sunday to Bozeman ahead of a matchup against fellow 4-1 club Montana State on Monday night.
