“#Identity Crisis” — Courteney Cox “finally” gets “Monica” on the Instagram ‘Friends’ filter

“#Identity Crisis” — Courteney Cox “finally” gets “Monica” on the Instagram ‘Friends’ filterWarner Bros. Entertainment Inc.(LOS ANGELES) — Courteney Cox apparently really is “Monica,” according to a new Instagram Friends filter.

However, obvious as the choice is, seeing how she played the character for 10 years, it took some time for Cox to get there, according to the actress’ latest post.

Instagram’s new Friends filter grades your selfie to determine “What Friends Character Are You” — by shuffling through sketches of each character on a box on your forehead, before settling on either Ross, Joey, Chandler, Monica, Phoebe, or Rachel.

Cox gave the filter a whirl, but the filter first chose Jennifer Aniston’s Rachel to Cox’s apparent surprise. Next was David Schwimmer’s Ross, Matt LeBlanc’s Joey, Lisa Kudrow’s Phoebe, and Matthew Perry’s Chandler, before Cox finally got the “Monica” avatar she deserved.

“Finally got Monica…” she posted. “…thought I was gonna be Ugly Naked Guy for sure!” she joked, adding the hashtag “#IdentityCrisis”

So the filter’s tech isn’t too intuitive, apparently — or more likely, the picks are just random — but it was certainly enough to keep Cox’s nearly seven million followers laughing. The post had been viewed more than 4.3 million times in just nine hours.
