They’re calling it a triple threat – COVID-19, flu, and respiratory syncytial viru (RSV) are hitting hospitals at the same time. Pediatric hospitals in Colorado are already out of beds. Other hospitals are filling up too. The Denver Post reports 320 people are hospitalized statewide with COVID – that’s a dramatic uptick from last week when 218 people were hospitalized. Since October, just under 100 people have been hospitalized with flu, but state epidemiologist Rachel Herlihy cautions it’s early in the flu season. The Colorado Hospital Association said hospitals have had to reactive the pandemic-born transfer center that helps move patients to locations that have available beds.
