ContourGlobal and Platte River Power Authority have completed the Black Hollow Sun solar complex near Severance, bringing the Weld County facility into full commercial operation four months ahead of schedule. The companies marked the completion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Sept. 30. ColoradoBiz.com reports the approximately 1,700-acre complex is expected to generate 608 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually, enough to supply more than 73,000 homes and businesses in Platte River’s owner communities of Estes Park, Fort Collins, Longmont and Loveland, according to the companies.
