The Larimer County Commissioners approved a deal swapping a portion of Chimney Hollow Open Space in exchange for a smaller plot of land that fits more seamlessly into the open space and payment for the difference in size. According to the Loveland Reporter Herald, when Larimer County acquired the 1,847-acre parcel that would become Chimney Hollow in 2004, it included what the county has referred to as a “tail,” a long, narrow stretch of land at the southernmost end of the property that officials were uncertain would fit into the goals for the new open space.
