A 14-year-old Colorado boy has been awarded $65 million in a wrongful death lawsuit following a tragic 2022 highway crash that killed his mother. The Greeley Tribune reports Megan Arneson, a preschool teacher from Loveland, died instantly when a piece of a concrete overpass smashed through her windshield on Interstate 25 as she and her then-10-year-old son were returning from a day trip. Investigators found that a tractor-trailer driver hit the bridge because his cargo—a massive excavator—was improperly loaded and exceeded the height limit. That driver previously pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide and was sentenced to four years in community corrections for his role in the fatal incident.
