Unsafe Conditions Close Two Berthoud Businesses

Fire and building officials in Berthoud have temporarily closed two businesses in the Heron Lakes development after determining that conditions at the properties posed an “imminent danger” to occupants. The Loveland Reporter Herald reports the Taco Bell and Maverik on Grand Market Avenue were ordered evacuated Friday amid structural problems and signs of soil and foundation movement. A neighboring McDonald’s had already closed voluntarily due to similar problems.  Among the building and fire code violations identified at Taco Bell and Maverik were problems with emergency exits, including doors that no longer opened properly.
