Invasive Snail Found In Carter Lake Outside Loveland

The New Zealand mudsnail, a tiny, invasive species, has been detected in Carter Lake for the first time. The Loveland Reporter Herald reports the tiny, dark brown snails compete with native species for food and can threaten local ecosystems, according to Colorado Parks and Wildlife, which is urging recreators on the lake to properly decontaminate their boats and equipment. Watercraft on Carter Lake should expect thorough inspections, according to a release.
