The Ranch is implementing a weapons detection system at Blue Arena to increase the safety of visitors, in what officials said was an unintrusive and seamless method. The system, a set of two vertical pillars that use a targeting technology rather than traditional magnetic detection, allows security staff to specify specific items, without subjecting visitors to more intrusive searches like emptying pockets or removing belt buckles, said Conor McGrath, executive director of The Ranch. According to the Loveland Reporter Herald, the plan to implement some kind of detection system goes back before McGrath’s tenure began in 2022, to provide an extra layer of security at events at Blue Arena. The system will initially roll out during the 2026 Larimer County Fair PRCA Rodeo, beginning Aug. 2 and will be used for all Blue Arena events following that initial implementation. Usage at other facilities at The Ranch will then roll out over time.
