For more than 20 years, a bronze statue of a boy holding a fish stood at the northeastern corner of Glenmere Park, greeting Greeley parkgoers. That is until Tuesday afternoon, when the statue was sawed at its ankles and stolen. According to the Greeley Tribune, Greeley Public Art Coordinator Kim Snyder said the theft raises questions about the safety of other artwork in the city. “The Prize Catch” by Kurt Jungblut stood in Glenmere Park since 1999. Police suspect the statue was cut and stolen between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Tuesday, leaving just the base of the statue.
