Polis creates new Office of Saving People Money on Health Care

Gov. Jared Polis has created a new office to reduce health care costs in Colorado. The Office of Saving People Money on Healthcare will create a state reinsurance program to help private insurers keep premiums down. Polis says he also wants to give patients up-front hospital pricing and reduce prescription drug costs. He’s vowed to reduce costs for rural and mountain residents who pay some of the highest premiums in the country because they only have one option under the state-run marketplace.
