Northern Colorado Wrestling Season Tickets on Sale

GREELEY, Colo. – Season tickets for the 2023-24 University of Northern Colorado wrestling season are now on sale for just $60 each, and excitement for the Bears’ wrestling program has never been higher!

The Bears feature Stevo Poulin, the reigning Big 12 champion at 125 pounds and an NCAA tournament qualifier, and Vinny Zerban, an NCAA tournament qualifier at 157 pounds. In the Preseason National Rankings, Poulin is ranked No. 6 at 125 and Zerban is ranked No. 11 at 157.

“I am very excited about the upcoming season and the expectation is to compete and get better each day,” said UNC head wrestling coach Troy Nickerson. “Greeley has embraced this program, and we have an exciting home schedule. We appreciate the support!”

With the 2024 Olympics right around the corner, 2023 141-pound NCAA Champion Andrew Alirez has decided to take an Olympic redshirt year and earn the right to represent the United States in Paris. He will not compete with the Bears this season and will return to the team for the 2024-25 season.

“I’m not leaving my town, I’m not leaving my school, and I’m definitely not leaving my team,” Alirez said. “I’ll be cheering for our Bears, and I hope you will too.”

The Bears open the 2023 season on Friday, November 3 vs. Fort Hays State and New Mexico Highlands (5 and 7 p.m.).

UNC then hits the road at the Arm Bar at the Armory (Nov. 17) in Albany, New York, the Black Knight Invitational (Nov. 19) at West Point, New York, and the Cougar Clash (Dec. 2) in Edwardsville, Illinois

The Bears return home for a three-match homestand and open Big 12 competition beginning December 10 versus West Virginia. The program hosts the UNC duals (Dec. 17) and Big 12 rival Oklahoma State (Dec. 19).

UNC opens 2024 with the Southern Scuffle (Jan. 1 & Jan. 2) in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

The Blue and Gold then match-up with Cal Poly (Jan. 12), and the program returns to Big 12 competition versus Cal Baptist (Jan. 13), South Dakota State (Jan. 19), and North Dakota State (Jan. 21).

The Bears return home for two matches versus Wyoming (Jan. 26), and Utah Valley (Feb. 10) and close out the regular season at Air Force (Feb. 18). The Big 12 championships are set for March 9-10 at the BOK Center in Tulsa and the NCAA championships are March 21-23 at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
