Man accused of shooting Ft. Lupton officer makes initial court appearance

The man accused of shooting a Fort Lupton police officer in the face multiple times made his initial court appearance today, after being dismissed from the hospital for his injuries earlier this week. Matthew Cotter is being held at the Weld County Jail on a five-million-dollar bond, charged with two counts of criminal attempt to commit first-degree murder and multiple assault and attempted assault ones. He’s next scheduled to appear in Weld District Court in mid-February.
