Insurance for Marshall Fire victims expiring soon

Time is running out for many homeowners whose homes burned in the Marshall Fire that happened nearly one year ago. Insurance for temporary living expenses expires next week, according to The Denver Post. Insurance Commissioner Michael Conway has asked all insurance carriers to expand fire victims’ coverage that’s currently covers rent or a second mortgage while families are rebuilding their primary homes. Companies have until December 30–the anniversary of the wildfire that claimed two lives and destroyed at least 1,000 homes–to inform the commissioner on whether they agree to the extension though there’s no penalty if they don’t.
