DA: Larimer Co. deputies won’t face charges in fatal Johnstown shooting

A Larimer County sheriff’s deputy involved in a fatal shooting following a high-speed chase won’t face charges. The District Attorney’s Office said prosecutors reviewed body camera footage from the October 21 incident in Johnstown, that they say shows suspect Christopher Roldan coming at deputies with a silver object in his hand and refusing deputies’ commands to drop the weapon. The deputywho fired at Roldan, killing him, said he feared Roldan would stab him in the neck and kill him, so he fired a shot and another deputy hit Roldan in the head with a rifle when he attempted to get up. The DA determined both deputies were justified in their actions. Had Roldan survived, the DA said he likely would’ve been charged with eluding and felony menacing.
