Arctic air, coldest in decades, to freeze Colorado

It’s some of the coldest temperatures to hit Colorado in decades, and temperatures Thursday could be downright dangerous. A polar vortex will bring a bitter blast of arctic air combined with strong winds that will send temperatures plummeting to below zero with real-feel temperatures of -30 across the Front Range. Wind chills could break records. The cold is so severe that just 10 minutes outside could result in frostbite. It’s so cold, you’re advised not to walk your dog. The bitter cold will close the Denver Zoo Thursday to keep animals and people safe. The burst of cold air will linger until Friday morning when temperatures start to warm up for the holiday weekend with highs well above freezing.
