The University of Northern Colorado is saying goodbye to its head football coach. Ed McCaffrey won’t be returning next season after the Bears had a 3-8 season, going 2-6 in Big Sky Conference play. McCaffrey was hired in 2019 but due to COVID didn’t debut as coach until 2021. That year, UNC lost 40 players due to transfers. The Greeley Tribune reports McCaffrey’s tenure was also plagued by what players called a “toxic culture” that included nepotism. The Bears will conduct a national search for their next head coach.
