Larimer Co. devotes $1.5M to new youth shelter in Loveland

Larimer County is devoting $1.5 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds to put towards a new youth shelter in Loveland. Commissioners approved the expenditure at a recent meeting. The shelter, a collaborative effort before the city, Larimer County, the Thompson and Poudre school districts, and the Fort Collins nonprofit, The Matthews House, aims to address youth housing insecurity. The Loveland Reporter Herald said the Thompson School District says more than 830 of its students face housing insecurity. No overnight shelter for youth currently exists in Larimer County. The closest facility is in Boulder County. The youth shelter aims to open in 2024. For the full story, check out https://www.reporterherald.com/.
