Boulder Starbucks workers come one step closer to unionizing

Starbucks workers at more than 100 U.S. stores, including four in Colorado, have gone on strike. The walkouts coincide with the coffee company’s popular Red Cup Day, where the company hands out free reusable cups to anyone who orders as a holiday drink. Workers are seeking to unionize for better pay and more consistent schedules. The Denver Post reports in Boulder, the Starbucks store on 2400 Baseline Road sid they’ve petitioned the National Labor Relations Board for a union vote. If they unionize, they’ll be the ninth Starbucks store in Colorado to unionize. Starbucks opposes the unionization, but said it respects its employees’ right to peacefully protest.
