Weld RE-4 school board candidate pushes forward despite past harassment conviction

A school board candidate in the Weld RE-4 School District plans to continue his campaign despite a harassment conviction being made public. The Greeley Tribune reports Trent Leisy of Windsor was charged in connection with a harassment incident involving a child in 2016. He was arrested a year later, pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to six months of unsupervised probation. Leisy told the Greeley Tribune the incident occurred after his divorce and that he ran for office knowing this is a small town, that his conviction might resurface, and that he’s confident enough to take the chance. He previously served in the Windsor and Severance district from 2005 to 2009 and is now running against Lance Nichols who was appointed to the board earlier this year after Brad Irion resigned.
