Memorial service held for fallen Colorado parole officer

A memorial service was held Monday in Pueblo for the first Department of Corrections employee killed in the line of duty in a decade in Colorado. Christine Guerin Sandoval was killed late last month while serving a felony warrant for the arrest of Justin Kula in Colorado Springs. Kula is accused of striking Sandoval and another parole officer in a stolen vehicle. Guerin Sandoval died at the hospital while the other officer was treated and released from the hospital. Kula is being held on manslaughter charges. Sandoval leaves behind a husband and two children. Sandoval was 50 years old.
