Officials with the Colorado State Forest Service say they have noted the presence of the emerald ash borer in a tree near Berthoud. It’s the first confirmed case in Larimer County and the third in the state outside of an area quarantined by the National Forest Service. The tree with damage was on private property in unincorporated Larimer County and it’s unclear whether the beetles were brought to the area through accidental transport or if they spread naturally.
