Larimer Co. diamonds on display in Smithsonian exhibit

A pair of diamonds mined from Larimer County are now on display in the nation’s capital. The Freedom Diamond and the Colorado Diamond Crystal found at the former Kelsey Lake Diamond Mine are part of the “Great American Diamonds” exhibition at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History. The Coloradoan reports the Freedom Diamond is the largest faceted diamond to ever come from a U.S. mine. Kelsey Lake was one of just two diamond mines to have operated in the U.S. For more information, visit https://www.coloradoan.com/.
