A fire in an unincorporated section of Weld County was placed under control Tuesday. Mountain View Fire Rescue said the fire involved structures near 175th Avenue and County Road 7 east of Erie. The fire sent thick black smoke into the air forcing residents to shutter their windows, but they didn’t have to evacuate. The extent of the damage isn’t clear.
