Man’s Appeal Of Sentence In Animal Cruelty Case Denied

A Fort Collins man handed a 60 day sentence after his dog died of heat exhaustion in his car,  filed an appeal that was dismissed with prejudice on Thursday, according to the Loveland Reporter Herald.  32 year old  Michael Reynolds left his dog, Keef, in his car with the windows rolled up for more than four hours while playing golf in Littleton in July. Witnesses noticed the dog’s distress and attempted to locate Reynolds, called 911 and used a golf club to break the car’s rear window and rescue Keef. The dog was unresponsive and attempts to perform CPR were unsuccessful.  Reynolds pleaded guilty to one count of animal cruelty and was sentenced to 60 days in jail, two years of probation, 100 hours of public service, over $1,000 in court fines and fees.
