Loveland Voters To Decide Number Of Votes Needed To Fire City Manager, City Attorney

Should it take five votes or six votes to fire the city manager or city attorney in Loveland?  Voters will have their say in November.  According to the Loveland Reporter Herald,  members  Tuesday voted 5 to 4 to direct the City Attorney’s office to draft language for the 2024 ballot that would change the Loveland city charter to allow a majority of the council to hire or remove two of their three direct reports, instead of a supermajority.  Troy Krenning  introduced the motion for the ballot question and says Loveland is just one of two home rule cities in Colorado with such a requirement in its city charter. The other is Windsor, which used Loveland’s charter when crafting its own, he said.
