Former Weld County GOP Chair Steps Down In The Wake Of Child Prostitution Sting

The former chairman of the Weld County Republican Party has stepped down after his arrest in a child prostitution sting, in which deputies say they posed as a 14-year-old girl. The Greeley Tribune reports Hunter Rivera, 24, faces felony charges of soliciting child prostitution, internet luring of a child with intent to exploit, attempted sexual assault on a child and cybercrime— arranging to meet with a prostitute who may be a minor. Rivera resigned as chair on May 16.   Investigators with the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office posing as minors posted advertisements on websites used by prostitutes and posted an inquiry looking for clients on May 14. Rivera responded to an advertisement, according to his arrest affidavit.
