As part of Police Week next week, the Weld County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a ceremony May 16 at the Weld County Fallen Officer Memorial at Bittersweet Park in Greeley. It begins at 6pm and will feature former Weld County Sheriff and Colorado State Senator John Cooke as guest speaker. During the ceremony, the names of the 136 law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty in 2023 will be read aloud. Also, an Eagle Scout troop from the Boy Scouts of America added marble engravings to the monument, an addition that shares more information about each officer who is honored at the memorial, according to the Greeley Tribune.
