High Plains Honor Flight Leaves Loveland For D.C.

When a High Plains Honor Flight took off from Loveland to D.C. Sunday, for the first time ever, it did not include anyone who served in World War ll.   Retired Col. Skip Johnson told a crowd at The Ranch on Sunday that they knew this day was coming with the passage of time, but he called it a sad note nonetheless. The Loveland Reporter Herald reports  Johnson was the final speaker at a send-off event for the 120 veterans taking part in this year’s High Plains Honor Flight. Of those, 106 served during the Vietnam War, six during the Korean War and one served in both.
