Bill seeks to spend $15M on wildfire prevention, firefighting efforts

Colorado is taking steps now ahead of what could be the worst wildfire season the state has ever seen. Senate President Steve Fenberg is the force behind a bill that would invest $15 million in first responders and communities by improving the state’s emergency dispatch system and adding a second air tanker and two choppers to firefighting efforts. The additions are aimed at preventing small fires from becoming disastrous large-scale wildfires. Fenberg’s bill would also create the Office of Climate Preparedness which would focus on climate adaptation and disaster recovery.
