Larimer County recently received a $1.5 million dollar grant from Great Outdoors Colorado. Back in 2022, reports the Loveland Reporter Herald, the county purchased a nearly 1,600 acre natural area west of Loveland, formerly known as Heaven’s Door Ranch for $9 million dollars, with a plan to convert it into a future open space open to the public and to preserve critical species that pass through the area. Local municipalities have also contributed and share ownership of the conservation easement put in place at the future open space, including $500,000 from the city of Loveland and $750,000 from the city of Fort Collins.
