The Boulder District Attorney is calling for yet another competency hearing for the suspected shooter in the King Soopers massacre. Prosecutors said Ahmad Alissa is refusing to participate in treatment for schizophrenia. He’s been at the Colorado Mental Health Institute in Pueblo since he was declared incompetent to stand trial in December 2021. Prosecutors argue Alissa may be feigning symptoms and question the hospital’s ability to treat him. Alissa faces 10 counts of first-degree murder in the 2021 grocery store shooting.
