81-year-old Englewood man accused of killing wife, daughter with ax

Englewood Police described it as one of the most “gruesome” crime scenes they’ve ever laid eyes on. An elderly Englewood man is accused of killing his wife and adult daughter with an ax. Reginald Maclaren, 81, faces two counts of murder. Police said they arrived at Maclaren’s home on the 900 block of Englewood Parkway Saturday to find the victims’ bodies in large trash cans in the living room and kitchen area. Both suffered ax wounds to the head. Court records said he told investigators he killed his relatives because he recently lost his job, had no money to pay rent and didn’t want to be homeless after he lost his job. Maclaren is behind bars at the Arapahoe County Jail.
