Clifford’s career night helps him earn honor
FORT COLLINS – Nique Clifford’s career night against Boise State helped him earn the Mountain West Player of the Week, announced by the conference Monday morning.
Clifford averaged 25.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game last week, helping the Rams secure the No. 2 seed in this week’s Mountain West Tournament. The Colorado Springs native shot an impressive 70.4% from the field, including 6-of-10 behind the arc and making all seven free throw attempts.
On his senior night, Clifford led the Rams with 15 points to go with six rebounds, six assists and three steals in a 27-point win over San Jose State.
He turned in one of the best performances ever by a Ram at Boise State. Clifford scored 36 points on 13-of-18 shooting, adding four rebounds, three assists, and two blocks. The 36 points are the most by a Ram since David Roddy against Creighton in 2021 and tie for the 11th most in program history. His performance helped the Rams erase a nine-point deficit and win over the Broncos 83-73.
Clifford and the rest of the Rams start the Mountain West Tournament on Thursday night when they take on the winner of the Nevada-Fresno State game at 7 p.m. MT.
