NIKOLA JOKIĆ NAMED NBA WESTERN CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Denver, February 4, 2025 – The NBA has announced that Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokić has been named Western Conference Player of the Month for games played in January.

Jokić wins the award for the eighth time in his career, the most in franchise history.

The three-time MVP averaged 27.0 points, 12.8 rebounds, 11.4 assists and 1.9 steals while shooting .585 from the field and .440 from three-point range in 14 games during January. He led the Nuggets to a record of 10-4 in games in which he played and they currently are fourth in the Western Conference standings.

Jokić, 29, recorded eight triple-doubles in the month span, tied for the fifth most in a single month in NBA history. It included a stretch of five straight, all which came in three quarters from 1/14-1/23. He started the month with two 40+ point games in back-to-back nights, the third time this season posting 40+ points in consecutive games, becoming the only player in the NBA to do so multiple times. He also recorded 35 points (12-19 FG, 2-3 3FG, 9-10 FT), 22 rebounds and 17 assists vs. SAC on 1/23, becoming the first player since Wilt Chamberlain in 1968 to record 35+ points, 20+ rebounds and 15+ assists in a game.

Jokić, was selected to his seventh straight All-Star game (fifth straight as a starter) earlier in the month and passed Larry Bird on 1/14 as the fastest player in NBA history to reach 15,000 points, 7,500 rebounds and 5,000 assists in a career, doing so in 90 less games (Jokic – 709 games, Bird – 799 games).

In January, the Joker ranked first in assists per game, second in double-doubles, fourth in rebounds per game, fourth in points per game and seventh in steals per game in the Western Conference.

Among NBA ranks per game, the Sombor, Serbia native, is second in assists, third in rebounds, third in points, second in 3FG%, and fourth in steals. If those averages hold, he would be the first player in NBA history to finish a season ranked in the top 10 in each category.
