Loveland man who chased man with machete in Old Town sentenced

A Loveland man arrested for chasing another man with a machete in Fort Collins last year is heading to prison  Francisco Saenz, 37, pleaded guilty to a charge of attempted assault. He was sentenced to seven years behind bars. Police said Saenz chased a 21-year-old man with a machete following an argument in Old Town in 2022. Police said the victim shot Saenz seven times in self-defense near South College Avenue and East Oak Street. He was hospitalized, but survived, then fled the state before marshals found him in California.
