Avian Flu Outbreak Impacts Weld County Egg Laying Facility

Close to 2 million chickens at a Weld County egg-laying facility will be killed because of the latest outbreak of a virus known as avian flu.  According to the Greeley Tribune, the Colorado Department of Agriculture says 1.78 million birds will be killed at the location known as Weld 11 following a presumptive positive confirmation Friday from the Colorado State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory.  Also, a  quarantine order has been issued in parts of Weld County east of Keenesburg to limit the movement of birds in and out of the area.
