A disaster declaration has been approved by Weld County Commissioners, stemming from the May 28 storm that impacted portions of Greeley, Milliken and Johnstown. Damage was estimated at $3.4 million with damage to 279 personal properties and businesses and 77 government buildings and public infrastructure. Last week, Greeley made a similar declaration to see whether state assistance may be available for residents in their recovery efforts, according to the Greeley Tribune. The storm dropped 2-inch sized hail and a month’s worth of rain in about two hours, severely impacting homes, businesses, government buildings and roads.
