After months of detours and lane closures, traffic is once again flowing in both directions on East First Street as a major wastewater infrastructure project nears completion. The Loveland Reporter Herald reports city crews reopened the westbound lanes Friday, though cones will remain until final site cleanup is completed later this month. The work began in late 2025 to expand wastewater infrastructure capacity on the city’s east side in anticipation of future growth and development. During construction, crews installed a new 36-inch wastewater interceptor from Denver Avenue east to Willow Bend Park, excavating trenches as deep as 19 feet and resulting in the closure.
