Driver Fleeing Police On Foot Struck By Vehicle On I-25

A driver who fled a traffic stop, jumped out of a vehicle and ran across the highway was hit by oncoming
traffic on Monday.  At about 5:30pm, Larimer County Sheriff’s Office deputies initiated a traffic stop in the area of Rocky Mountain Avenue and Highway 34 in Loveland. The driver drove away from the stop,  before coming to a stop at approximately mile marker 245 of I-25 near Mead, due to a flat tire.
The male suspect exited his vehicle with a firearm and ran across the interstate. The suspect jumped over the center median and was struck by an oncoming vehicle in the northbound lanes, sustaining serious injuries.  Three deputies sustained minor injuries in the incident.
